Getting Started

Stand up your dropzone admin workspace, connect branding, and configure critical systems before launch.

Welcome & Scope

This quick-start overview walks new admins through the decisions and integrations required to operate EZ DZ confidently.

This guide walks newly promoted dropzone administrators through configuring EZ DZ and running day-to-day skydiving operations.

It assumes a super admin has created your dropzone and that you know which systems—like email or marketing tools—you plan to connect during setup.

  • Configure aircraft and load defaults so manifesting works on day one.
  • Stand up your branded booking portal with payments and confirmations.
  • Embed the booking experience into your marketing site.
  • Launch reliable email automations.
  • Manage tandems, fun jumpers, instructors, and manifest operations smoothly.
  • Use analytics and optional Ribbit insights to monitor growth.

Access & Roles

Gain administrator access, associate with the correct dropzone, and confirm your permissions before touching production data.

Create your EZ DZ account

  1. Visit the EZ DZ onboarding link supplied by your super admin.
  2. Register with your business email and complete the profile form.
  3. Verify the confirmation email to activate the account.

Associate with your dropzone

  1. Open the dashboard and search for your dropzone under 'Join a Dropzone'.
  2. Select the correct dropzone and confirm the association—your profile is linked immediately.
  3. Verify the dropzone appears in the header selector so you can switch into it.

Receive the admin role

  1. Send a quick note to your admin contact asking them to grant the dropzone_admin role.
  2. After they confirm the change, sign out and back in to refresh permissions.
  3. Confirm you can access the Admin Dashboard from the navigation bar and switch dropzones with the selector when needed.

Core Setup Sequence

Work through these foundational steps in order so bookings, billing, and manifesting are ready for customers.

Add Aircraft & Load Defaults

Define your fleet right away, then revisit manifest defaults after payments and booking settings are finalized.

Tip

Add every active aircraft now—loads can reference any configured plane later.

Revisit manifest defaults once pricing and payment settings are dialed in so everything stays in sync.

Create your first aircraft

  1. Navigate to Admin Dashboard → Manage Fleet.
  2. Select 'Add New Aircraft'.
  3. Enter the aircraft name (for example, Twin Otter) and seat capacity, then save.

Set dropzone-wide manifest defaults

Complete this step after booking and payment configuration so fun jumper pricing and credit logic match your storefront.

  1. Open DZ Admin → Settings.
  2. Confirm your dropzone address and latitude/longitude so weather and analytics stay accurate.
  3. Configure the manifest rules that govern fun jumper check-in and credit usage, then save.
  • Update the dropzone address and latitude/longitude so maps, weather, and analytics stay accurate.
  • Allow self-manifest for fun jumpers when you want them to manage their own slots.
  • Require credits before manifesting to prevent jumpers with a negative balance from loading.
  • Turn on auto-deduct credits so balances update automatically at takeoff.
  • Set your timezone to the dropzone’s operations timezone.
  • Confirm the default fun jumper ticket price used for quick credit purchases.
  • Adjust the manifest cutoff window to control when last-minute changes are allowed.

Configure Booking & Payments

Work through booking settings, payment preferences, Stripe onboarding, and email notifications before inviting customers.

Configure booking settings

  1. Open DZ Admin → Booking System → General Settings.
  2. Set your booking slug (we recommend using your dropzone name so links stay familiar).
  3. Confirm contact email and phone number, then update your booking page branding (logo, favicon, font, and primary color).
  4. Set minimum age, optional weight limit, required fields like phone or emergency contact, and craft custom terms plus the confirmation message.
  • Choosing the System UI font keeps the form consistent with the app experience.
  • Preview changes in the live preview and embed screens to see color adjustments in context—and leave the secondary color as-is unless you confirm contrast.

Tune payment settings

  1. Navigate to DZ Admin → Booking System → Payment.
  2. Review the Stripe Connect card at the top—launch onboarding if you have not connected yet or confirm the status shows as enabled.
  3. Choose whether to collect a deposit now and the balance on arrival or take the full amount up front, then enter the default deposit amount if applicable.
  4. Decide how EZDZ platform fees are handled: On Starter plan, absorbing fees means you pay 6% of each booking to the platform, or toggle 'Pass fees to customer' so customers pay the 6% and you receive the full booking value (Stripe fees still apply). On Pro plan, absorbing fees means you pay only 3% to the platform, or toggle 'Pass fees to customer' so customers pay 6% while you only pay 3%—keeping the extra 3% to offset your Stripe transaction fees and net almost the full booking value.
  5. If you pass fees through, set the public label (for example, Processing Fee, Platform Support, or Booking Technology) so customers know what they are paying.
  6. Toggle Test Mode when you want the public booking page to display the test banner while you run end-to-end trials.

Tip

Example: On a $100 booking with Pro plan fee pass-through, customers pay $106. You pay $3 to the platform but keep the extra $3 collected, which offsets Stripe fees (~2.9% + $0.30), netting you nearly the full $100 booking value.

Passing the fee to customers only applies to EZDZ platform fees—standard Stripe processing rates still apply to every transaction.

You can switch between absorbing and passing fees at any time. The change shows on the very next booking once you save the setting.

Connect Stripe Terminal devices

  1. From DZ Admin → Booking System → Payment, scroll to the Stripe Terminal section.
  2. Click 'Register Terminal' and choose your reader model. Today we support Stripe “smart” readers such as WisePOS E or S700 that display on-screen pairing codes.
  3. Enter a nickname for the reader (for example, Manifest Desk or Gear Store) so staff can pick the right device when sending charges.
  4. Power on the reader, follow the on-device prompts to display the registration code, and paste that code into EZDZ to link it to your Stripe account.
  5. Send a $1 test charge from the Admin Dashboard → Collect Payment workflow to confirm the reader receives requests and syncs the resulting payment automatically.

Tip

Only Stripe’s Wi-Fi smart readers that generate registration codes are supported right now. Chipper 2X BT and other Bluetooth-only readers are not yet compatible.

We’re exploring Tap to Pay on iPhone and supported Android devices so your phone can become the terminal—watch the changelog for updates.

Start Stripe Connect onboarding

  1. From the Payment settings page, click 'Launch Stripe Onboarding'.
  2. Complete the forms Stripe requires—including business details, banking information, and the responsible individual.
  3. Once redirected back, review the Stripe status card to confirm charges and payouts are enabled and open the quick dashboard if you want an at-a-glance view.
  4. Log in at dashboard.stripe.com to confirm payments are enabled for your plans, link any connected Stripe Checkout pages, and review refund settings.
  5. Document your deposit policy (for example, all deposits are non-refundable) before inviting customers.

Verify Stripe status and email notifications

  • Log in at dashboard.stripe.com with your Stripe Connect credentials to review any open verification tasks.
  • Return to Admin Dashboard → Booking System → Email Settings to confirm sender details and payment-related templates.
  • Check that payment and booking emails render correctly; use real transactions once you move out of Test Mode.

Build booking packages & add-ons

  1. Open DZ Admin → Booking System → Pricing & Packages.
  2. Create packages that define name, description, base price, and availability (weekday/weekend toggles, seasonal windows).
  3. Set display order so hero offerings appear first, then toggle packages Active when ready.
  4. Add add-ons such as photo/video bundles, higher-altitude upgrades, or handcam options and mark which bookings they apply to.

Configure schedules & availability

  1. Open the Schedule tab to create recurring time slots.
  2. Set day of week, start and end times, slot duration, buffer, and maximum bookings per slot.
  3. Scroll to the Overrides section right beneath the primary schedule builder to block specific days/date ranges or add bonus slots outside the standard template.
  4. Add seasonal windows or blackout periods, then confirm availability appears in the preview calendar.

Publish & test booking workflow

  1. Use the Preview Booking Page button to review the customer flow.
  2. Complete a booking in Test Mode to verify packages, deposit behavior, and confirmations.
  3. Switch to Live mode only after payments, confirmations, and automations meet expectations.

Embed the booking experience

Place the booking portal on your marketing site so customers convert without friction.

Full-page embed

  • Copy the full-page iframe code from Booking System → Embed.
  • Create or reuse a dedicated booking page on your marketing site and paste the iframe code there—it's responsive for mobile and desktop.

Testing on your marketing site

  1. Ensure your marketing site shares the same primary color for cohesion.
  2. Complete a full booking in Test Mode to verify analytics tracking and cross-origin policies.

Email Delivery

Connect transactional email so confirmations and automations arrive reliably.

Gather SMTP credentials

  • Host, port, and TLS or SSL requirements.
  • Username and password (use app-specific credentials when required).
  • Sender name and email, plus optional reply-to address.

Configure in EZ DZ

  1. Open Booking System → Email Settings after completing the branding steps above.
  2. Enter your SMTP host, port, login credentials, sender details, and enable the integration.
  3. Save to generate the automated booking confirmation template seeded with your branding.

Test connection & templates

  1. Click 'Test SMTP Connection' to validate credentials.
  2. Review the generated booking confirmation template and update HTML or text as needed before enabling automations.
  3. When ready, enable automations like Booking Created or Day Before Jump.
